Sustainability starts with design. Guided by this vision, Morpho Travel Experience was recognized by the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE) as one of 16 companies awarded under its Leaders in the Electrification of the Economy Program, in recognition of the responsible energy management integrated into The Croc Skywalk, its new project located in Tárcoles, Puntarenas.

From the early design stage, the store, restaurant, and crocodile observation platform incorporated bioclimatic solutions aimed at reducing solar radiation and outside heat, helping optimize the building’s energy consumption. These measures are complemented by 482 solar panels for clean energy generation, 10 electric vehicle charging stations, smart automation systems, and high-efficiency equipment. According to Marcela Villalobos, Projects Director at Morpho Travel Experience, “energy efficiency is a key element that should be considered from the very beginning of any project.”

This approach is further supported by the recent achievement of ISO 50001 certification for Energy Management Systems, which provides a framework for managing and continuously improving the energy performance of The Croc Skywalk and enabled access to ICE’s preferential TMTb tariff. “Sustainability is not an operational add-on, but a principle that should be embedded in the design of every experience,” said Jesús Jiménez Valverde, Sustainability Coordinator at Morpho Travel Experience. The recognition highlights an approach to project development in which architecture, technology, and responsible resource management are integrated from the outset.
